Delcy Rodríguez proposes “political dialogue” with the opposition

The dictator of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, proposed this Friday the convening of a “true political dialogue” that includes both “coincident” and “divergent” political sectors. She entrusted the task to her brother and President of Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez.

“I want to urge the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, to immediately convene a meeting with all political sectors in the country,” said Delcy in a political event.

She asked that this dialogue have “concrete, immediate results”, and that it be Venezuelan, that is, that “external orders should no longer be imposed, neither from Washington, nor from Bogotá nor from Madrid”.

“The country asks that it be for the common good of Venezuela,” added the interim president, who took office after the United States captured dictator Nicolás Maduro in Caracas on January 3.

Delcy Rodríguez framed the new initiative in the so-called Program for Coexistence and Peace, which will be coordinated, according to her, by the Minister of Culture, Ernesto Villegas, and made up of government officials, businesspeople and academics.

She explained that the idea is to “make a 100-day plan” that will have as its “first task” the “mapping of political, economic and social violence and hatred in Venezuela”, but did not specify when it will be put into practice.

Although Maduro has left power, his allies continue to have full control of the Executive and Legislative branches, where the Chavistas have a large majority.
