The US Department of War has published a national strategy document for 2026. In the section on Iran, the Pentagon reiterated that during Operation Hammer of Midnight, in which the United States attacked the Islamic Republic’s nuclear facilities, “Iran’s nuclear program was completely destroyed.”
The document also indicates that Iran’s so-called “axis of resistance” has virtually ceased to exist, including thanks to the operations carried out by the IDF against Hamas and Hezbollah.
At the same time, the report’s authors note that Tehran is “determined to restore” its military potential. According to US intelligence, Iranian leaders “do not rule out attempts to re-develop nuclear weapons.” The document emphasizes that the United States now faces “significant opportunities” to change the security architecture in the region.
