Breathtaking, successful climb for Alex Honnold. The famous free climber ‘conquered’ one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world, Taipei 101, stopping on the summit at 508 meters high. Smiling, he greeted the fans who cheered him from below after looking up for 92 minutes with nerves on edge. The show will undoubtedly become an iconic moment in climbing history.
JUST IN: 40-year-old American climber Alex Honnold has successfully completed his climb up the Taipei 101 building in Taipei, Taiwan.
He reached the top of the tower in 1:31:35.
The building is 1,667 feet tall making it the 11th-tallest building in the world.

Honnold, we read on CNN, is the first known climber to have climbed Taipei 101 free solo, without ropes, safety nets or other equipment, only with his bare hands and a bag of chalk to help him have a better grip.
“It’s amazing, I’m sure I’ll be excited about it for days, it’s incredible,” Honnold said at a news conference after completing the climb. “You spend so much time thinking about it and imagining it’s possible, but then actually doing it is always different.”
