British MP accuses Israel of killing Shiri Bibas and her babies

Independent Member of the UK House of Commons Iqbal Mohammed (Dewsbury and Batley), known for his pro-Palestinian stance, was the subject of an investigation by the parliamentary ethics commission in connection with his social media posts in which he denied the atrocities of October 7, 2023. The British publication The Telegraph reports this.

The MP is suspected of deliberate disinformation and victim blaming: in his post on the social network X, he stated that Shiri Bibas and her children Ariel and Kfir, abducted from Kibbutz Nir Oz, were allegedly killed not by Hamas, but by the Israeli armed forces.

“Israeli authorities have confirmed that the Bibas family was killed by Israeli terrorist forces under the Hannibal Directive, and you continue to spread lies and accuse me of publishing conspiracy theories. The Zionist lie machine is not working!” read Iqbal Mohammed’s post, which he later deleted.

The Telegraph recalls that the Bibas family has become a symbol of Hamas cruelty: a video of the abduction of a mother with two red-haired children has spread throughout social networks and the media. Shiri’s husband, Yarden Bibas, was also kidnapped and then released on February 1, 2025. Later, the bodies of his wife and children were returned, and initially, instead of the remains of Shiri Bibas, the terrorists transferred the remains of an unidentified Arab woman through the Red Cross.

Hamas claimed that Shiri, Ariel and Kfir Bibas were killed in an Israeli airstrike, but after examining the remains, Israeli experts determined that the children were strangled shortly after captivity, and Shiri was also killed in captivity.

The ethics commission is considering a complaint about Iqbal Mohammed’s publication, which it says undermines confidence in MPs’ commitment to accuracy, incites ethnic hatred and discredits the House of Commons. Mohammed is one of four new independent MPs elected amid support for Palestinian issues. After the complaint appeared, he deleted his post and refused to comment to reporters.
