On charges of infecting young people with addiction… an American judicial audit with Meta, Tik Tok, and YouTube

WASHINGTON – Reuters: “Meta Platforms”, “TikTok” and “YouTube” face judicial scrutiny in the United States this week, due to accusations that they contribute to exacerbating a mental health crisis among young people, as the national debate about children’s screen time enters a new phase. The scrutiny in California Superior Court in Los Angeles comes after a 19-year-old California woman, identified by the letters KGM, filed a lawsuit in which she said she was addicted to the platforms affiliated with the three companies at an early age, because of their attractive design, according to court records. The young woman said: These applications exacerbated her depression and suicidal thoughts, and she seeks to blame the companies.
