The US Air Force is conducting large-scale “combat readiness” exercises in the Middle East.

US Air Forces Central Command (AFCENT) announced the start of a multi-day military exercise that will test the deployment, dispersal and support of combat aircraft in the Central Command area of ​​responsibility.

The maneuvers will improve the ability to quickly move aircraft and personnel, strengthen partnerships in the region and prepare the force to respond flexibly to threats, the military said.

During the exercise, American units will be deployed to several airfields, where they will test procedures for quickly deploying, taking off and landing aircraft with minimal logistics support.

AFCENT Commander Lt. Gen. Derek France said the airmen will demonstrate the ability to operate in challenging environments and fly combat missions alongside allies. All activities take place with the consent of the host countries and in coordination with civil and military aviation authorities.

It should be noted that military exercises are taking place in Qatar with the participation of all states that are members of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The 11-day maneuvers involve the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Kuwait. The Gulf Security 4 exercise plan includes more than 70 scenarios. Participants practice joint actions to combat terrorism, suppress riots, counter cyber threats, protect borders and eliminate natural disasters. The emphasis is on cross-unit collaboration, information sharing and readiness for rapid deployment.

The exercise, in which the United States is also participating, will end on February 4.
