Dashcam films overtaking maneuver gone wrong: seven PAOK Thessaloniki fans die in serious crash on the way to Lyon

“I am deeply affected by this tragic accident in Romania that claimed the lives of seven young compatriots,” Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis wrote in a post on Facebook. PAOK chairman Ivan Savvidis also reacted to the news. “I am deeply saddened by the unjust loss of young people, fans of our beloved club, who traveled to support PAOK. I mourn together with the families and millions of fellow countrymen. I pray that all will be well for those who were injured and are currently fighting for their lives.”

OL Lyon also responded to the tragic news. “Olympique Lyonnais extends its sincere condolences to PAOK following the tragic loss of several supporters in a traffic accident last Tuesday. Our thoughts are also with the injured who are currently recovering. A tribute will be paid to them during the OL – PAOK match on January 29 at the Groupama Stadium,” the French club said in a press release.
