Minneapolis, the clash between Pretti and Ice a few days before his death

The video shows Pretti yelling at an ICE vehicle that was blocking a road intersection and then kicking one of the taillights. At this point an officer gets out of the car and grabs Pretti throwing him to the ground, other officers rush to hold him down, while others fire tear gas canisters at the other demonstrators. Pretti manages to escape the officers’ grasp and as he walks away we see that he has a gun in his waistband.

Then Pretti and the other demonstrators continue to shout for Ice to leave and the federal agents move away. Tnm states that the video was analyzed by the BBC with facial recognition systems which confirmed 97% that it is Pretti. The Pretti family’s attorney, Steve Schleider, said the video shows that “Alex was violently assaulted by Ice agents without posing a threat to anyone. Nothing that happened a week earlier can in any way justify the killing of Alex by Ice on January 24.”

Judge orders release of all refugees detained by Ice

Meanwhile, a federal judge in Minnesota has ordered ICE to halt the arrest and deportation of refugees legally admitted to the United States and to immediately release those detained for review of their cases. “Refugees have the legal right to be in the United States, to work and live peacefully, and, most important, the right not to be subjected to the terror of arrest and detention without warrant or cause in their homes and on their way to church or the supermarket,” said Judge John Tunheim, who issued a restraining order for the release of at least 100 refugees arrested during the indiscriminate raids of Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant police.

An appeal against this ruling is expected from the Trump administration which in recent weeks has said it will review thousands of asylum grants to refugees who arrived during Joe Biden’s presidency who have not yet been granted green cards, to ensure, it has been claimed, that there has been no fraud.
