At first instance the woman was sentenced to 25 years in prison but the second instance judges ruled that Myriam Jaouen had “intentionally caused the death” of Lisa, aged eleven months, in June 2022
A former nursery worker has been sentenced to 30 years in prison on appeal after being found guilty of intentionally causing the death of a newborn baby by giving her a large dose of acid-based household cleaner. The sentence was handed down, after three days of trial, by the Court of Assizes of Ain, which established that Myriam Jaouen had “intentionally caused the death” of eleven-month-old Lisa in June 2022.
At first instance the woman was sentenced to 25 years in prison for torture and acts of barbarity that had led to the death of the little girl, but the intent to kill was not recognized.
