Strike in public transport: This is how buses and trains operate in your state

From Monday at 3.30 a.m. sharp, almost all of Germany will be at a standstill. The Verdi union has called for a nationwide strike in local public transport – with enormous consequences.

Almost everywhere, buses and trains remain completely in the depots, and for many children it is unclear how they will get to school. The union calls for better working conditions, for example by shortening weekly working hours and shift times, extending rest periods, and higher allowances. In Bavaria, Brandenburg, Saarland, Thuringia and at the Hamburger Hochbahn, higher wages and salaries are also being negotiated. In total, almost 100,000 employees in 150 municipal transport companies are affected.

Emergency timetable in Baden-Württemberg

Karlsruhe: Cancellation of all trips on Karlsruhe public transport tram lines (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 17, 18), the S2 light rail line and the VBK bus lines. The bus lines 30, 31, 44, 47, 62, 73, 107, which are run by subcontractors, are only in limited use: line 30 (every 30 minutes), trips between Elbinger Straße West and the European School are no longer available. Lines 31, 62 and 73 also run every 30 minutes. Bus lines 44 and 47 run every 20 minutes. The AVG light rail trains that run in the Karlsruhe city area are not affected by the ver.di warning strikes and run according to their regular timetable.

Additional S-Bahn journeys in Berlin

All subways, trams and most bus routes are on strike all day. These lines still run: 106, 114, 118, 124, 133, 175, 184, 204, 234, 275, 316, 318, 326, 161, 358, 363, N12, N23, N35, N39, N53, N61, N69, N84, N91, N95 and N97. The Berlin S-Bahn offers additional trips on line S1. There is a 5-minute service between the Zehlendorf and Potsdamer Platz train stations throughout the day.

In Potsdam All tram and ferry journeys will be cancelled. Bus lines 118, 316, 691 run as scheduled, lines 603, 638, 692, N16 run sporadically. Some trips are canceled on these lines: 609, 612, 619, 662, 697, 698.

Ahrensburg and Bargteheide city transport is not affected by the strike measures. Also Lower Saxony remains strike-free – the duty of peace applies here. Buses still run in Hesse

Frankfurt/Main: The subways and trams operated by the VGF transport company are canceled. S-Bahn, regional trains and buses are not on strike. All major cities in North Rhine-Westphalia affected

Almost all large cities in North Rhine-Westphalia are affected, buses and trams are at a standstill, but S-Bahn and regional trains are running. Saarland: 40 bus routes are at a standstill

There are massive restrictions on bus traffic on the Saarbahn: all 40 bus routes (including school buses) are canceled. The S1 light rail line cannot be served. Almost everything is at a standstill in Thuringia. Erfurt: All bus and train lines are canceled, and school transport is also affected. Strike at the Norder ferry (Schleswig-Holstein)

Like: no buses in city traffic. Ferries and lines run by car power. Lübeck: LVG lines are not affected. The Northern ferry is on strike. The main ferry runs every hour on the hour for pedestrians and cyclists. Flensburg: With AktivBus, lines 1, 3, 4 and 7 are canceled (individual trips possible). A greatly reduced special timetable applies to lines 2, 5, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 14.
