Today, Israel opened the Rafah checkpoint on the border between the Gaza Strip and Egypt. The only crossing connecting Gaza to the outside world came under Israeli control in May 2024.
However, the operation of the checkpoint resumed under strict restrictions imposed by Israel. Only a limited number of Palestinians can cross the checkpoint without cars and after undergoing a comprehensive check by Israeli special services.
The Israeli side also allowed some of the severely wounded Palestinians in the Gaza Strip to be taken out by ambulance to Egypt.
