Iranian media: negotiations with the US will take place in the coming days

According to the Iranian Tasnim agency, negotiations will take place in the coming days between the American and Iranian delegations, which will be headed, respectively, by US Presidential Special Representative Steven Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

According to the Fars agency, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian gave permission to discuss issues related to the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program with the Americans. However, let us recall that the final decision on this issue rests with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Reuters quotes a Turkish source as saying that the negotiations will take place in Turkey.

As Axios reported last day, citing an official American representative, the US administration used several channels to inform Iran of its readiness to begin negotiations.

According to the publication, Turkish, Egyptian and Qatari mediators are working behind the scenes to organize a US-Iranian meeting in Ankara in the coming days. The US delegation is to be led by Special Presidential Representative Steven Witkoff.

The foundation for the efforts of Qatar, Turkey and Egypt was the successful mediation mission of these countries to achieve a truce in the Gaza Strip. At the same time, it is unclear whether Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei will agree to negotiations.
