Mallorca: Too many tourists! German family wants to close dream bay

According to inselradio.com, around 4,000 people are said to come to the small bay every day in high season, other estimates even put the figure at up to 5,000. Many wait for hours, crowded together, often annoyed. The main thing is that the perfect photo is in the box. The stampede is not a new problem. Since last summer, however, the situation has apparently become more serious. Now, according to a media report, the German millionaire Oehm family wants to take countermeasures. The beach is hers. And she wants to block access.

The path to the bay leads over the family’s private property

To get to the bay you have to tourists walk about a kilometer long across the family’s private property. For Maren and Hans-Peter Oehm the measure is full. According to their own statements, they “begged” the authorities for help for years – with no result. Like “Diario de Mallorca” reports, the Oehms have now applied to the authorities to close access to their property with a fence. The plan is completely legal and has been developed with architects.

The family lives in Santanyí all year round. She feels responsible for cleaning and protecting nature in the bay. Public paths should remain open – your property should not. The German couple used another coastal property nearby as a model for their campaign. Access for holidaymakers has already been restricted there.
