Spain will ban minors from using social networks. Today, during the international conference in Dubai, the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, announced this, noting that it concerns children under 16 years of age.
According to Sanchez, the country’s parliament is going to tighten the legislation regulating the activities of social networks, also establishing criminal responsibility for the leaders of social networks.
“The heads of those technology platforms will also be held criminally liable if illegal or hateful content is not removed from their networks,” Sanchez said.
In addition to Spain, the French government also announces its intention to ban social networks for minors. In Australia, the ban came into effect in December 2025.
