New documents reveal Epstein’s possible activities in Brazil

New files released by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) reveal a possible connection between the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and Brazil. In total, more than four thousand documents refer to the country.

A series of conversations released with a former French modeling agent, Jean-Luc Brunel, also accused of committing sexual crimes, indicate that he was a kind of “right-hand man” for Epstein to recruit Brazilian women for his sex trafficking scheme.

One of the files released exposes the financier’s attempt to buy a modeling agency in Brazil in 2016, eight years after his conviction for grooming an underage girl. The messages suggest that his intention was to have easier access to these women.

Years earlier, in 2012, Epstein showed interest in Brazilian model Luma de Oliveira in an exchange of messages with the Frenchman. One of the files reveals the dialogue between them. “I already mentioned Luma de Oliveira, he (Eike Batista) was or is married to her”, says Brunel, who receives a response from the financier: Eike Batista’s girlfriend? Did you mention this to me?”

The former agent founded the MC2 modeling agency, based in Miami and which had financial help from Epstein. In 2019, the British newspaper The Guardian revealed a series of allegations against Brunel, involving sex trafficking of foreign women to the USA. In addition to these cases, three other people told the publication that they had been sexually assaulted by him.

Brunel was arrested in 2020 and, two years later, was found dead in a prison cell in Paris.

Other connections with Brazil

Among the thousands of files on the Epstein case that mention Brazil is a 2010 testimony in court in Florida, in which a witness stated that the sexual offender frequently traveled to the country and maintained contact with a woman who provided him with girls for sexual purposes, including minors.

The person presented as a recruiter, whose name was restricted, reported that he worked for former agent Jean-Luc Brunel. According to the former employee’s testimony, the agency founded by the Frenchman was basically supported by Epstein.
