There were a number of train cancellations and delays in Deutsche Bahn’s long-distance services between Hanover and Berlin. However, the extent was smaller than on Wednesday, said a railway spokeswoman. Individual sprinter lines were also canceled and the speed in Berlin had to be reduced due to freezing rain. The situation is also getting worse in the northeast. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the German Weather Service warns of severe, slippery weather. Freezing rain, snowdrifts and temperatures between minus three and zero degrees make paths and roads extremely dangerous. The official warning applies primarily to the east of the country and parts of Usedom.

Dominik Jung urges caution: “Everyone should expect slippery conditions.” There is still hope: “The situation will ease in the afternoon. The rain will subside.” In the east, even slight plus temperatures are expected for a short time.
