Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan and Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko discussed the problems of Armenian truck drivers in Moscow today, the steps of their regulation, reports the National Assembly.
As a result of the changes in the migration rules made in the RF legislation regarding foreign citizens, problems have arisen for Armenian drivers carrying out cargo transportation to Russia.
The annual period of stay of foreigners who entered Russia without a visa is 90 days.
Armenian freight forwarders have been protesting for weeks demanding the Armenian government to explain to EAEU partner Russia that the 90-day period is unrealistic for Armenian freight forwarders. The drivers reminded that the only land road from Armenia to Russia is Lars, and it is always closed and congested for various reasons, therefore they spend exactly half of those days there.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia had earlier proposed to extend the period of stay in Russia for international freight forwarders from countries that do not have a visa regime with the Federation for one year again, from 90 to 180 days, as before.
Whether Simonyan and Matvienko reached any agreement is not mentioned in the message.
It is also reported that they talked about the peace process established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as other issues of regional interest.
