The World Health Organization maintains a state of “emergency” in Palestine

The Executive Council of the World Health Organization approved maintaining an ongoing state of “health emergency” in the occupied Palestinian territory, including occupied Jerusalem, after voting on the draft resolution by a majority of 27 votes out of 34 members, in a clear international position that reflects the scale of the humanitarian and health collapse in the Gaza Strip. One member, Israel, voted against the resolution, while 4 members abstained from voting, and 3 members were absent from voting. The Executive Council condemned the repeated and direct attacks on health facilities and medical personnel, considering them a blatant and grave violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. The resolution stressed the urgent necessity of opening immediate, safe and unhindered humanitarian corridors.
