Law enforcement agencies detained two suspects in the attempt on the life of Vladimir Alekseev, deputy chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Kommersant reports, citing a source.

According to the publication, the suspects have already been brought in for questioning. Based on its results, it is planned to bring charges; the trial may take place on February 8.

Mash, in turn, claims that the alleged criminal is being “transported from Dubai.” According to the telegram channel, an accomplice was detained along with him. “The killer shot the 65-year-old general three times in the elevator yesterday morning, two bullets hit him in the stomach, one in the leg. The military leader ended up in intensive care in serious condition – one of the bullets hit vital organs,” writes Mash.

The day before, an unknown person tried to shoot Lieutenant General of the Russian Ministry of Defense Vladimir Alekseev in the north-west of Moscow; he was hospitalized, said Svetlana Petrenko, official representative of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (ICR).

In connection with the incident, a criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 1 art. 105 (attempted murder), part 1 of Art. 222 (illegal trafficking in firearms).
