Peskov: The United States did not respond to the Russian proposal to send part of the frozen assets to the Gaza Peace Council

Moscow has not yet received a response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proposal to send $1 billion from Russian assets frozen in the United States to the Peace Council. This was announced by Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

“Such a proposal was indeed expressed by the President of Russia, we have not yet received a response,” TASS quotes Peskov.

At the same time, the Kremlin press secretary noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “continues to work on the topic of the Peace Council in accordance with the instructions of the President of Russia.”

On January 22, Putin said that Russia is ready to pay a billion dollars for the status of a permanent member of the “Peace Council” organized by US President Donald Trump. He proposed to take funds from the assets of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation frozen in the United States. A day earlier, President Trump said Putin had accepted an invitation to join the new body.
