Vance and Aliyev signed a US-Azerbaijan strategic cooperation charter

The President of Azerbaijan said that Baku and Washington worked on the document for six months. Aliyev expressed gratitude to the Trump-Vance administration for its “very positive” attitude towards Azerbaijan.

“It is a great honor to be a strategic partner of the most powerful country in the world,” said the President of Azerbaijan.

The US vice president arrived in Baku at 17:47 local time at the presidential palace, where he was met by the president of Azerbaijan.

During the extended bilateral meeting, Vance and Aliyev made short statements in front of the cameras.

Aliyev noted that it was a great honor to host Vance in Azerbaijan. He said that he had two meetings with Donald Trump in the last six months and emphasized the existence of mutual interests.

Vance conveyed that President Trump sends his best wishes and is grateful for the partnership.

The US vice president did not respond to the question whether he would raise the issue of dozens of activists and journalists imprisoned in Azerbaijan during the meeting. Vance and Aliyev laughed while escorting the journalists from the hall.
