JD Vance discussed the issue of release of prisoners in Baku, the spokesperson of the US Vice President announced after his meeting with Ilham Aliyev.
“President Aliyev and Vice President Vance discussed the next steps of President Trump’s initiative to establish peace in Armenia and Azerbaijan. They focused on trade and prosperity, technology and diplomatic ties, and discussed next steps, including agreements and authorizations for the Trump Pathway for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), as well as confidence-building measures such as prisoner releases, American investment and regional economic integration,” the vice president’s spokesman said.
However, the American side did not elaborate on the reaction of the Azerbaijani side and whether there are any agreements on this issue.
JD Vance promised to raise the issue of Armenian prisoners in Baku before his flight to Yerevan.
Armenian prisoners in Baku were sentenced to long, in some cases, life imprisonment.
