Lukashenko will not participate in the first meeting of the Peace Council on Gaza

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will miss the first meeting of the Peace Council formed by US President Donald Trump. This was reported by the press secretary of the Belarusian leader Natalya Eismont.

According to her, the invitation came too late, when Lukashenko’s work schedule had already been formed. “We would love to visit the United States, but there are issues that cannot be postponed,” the Pool of the First telegram channel quotes the official as saying.

“In addition, we take into account possible logistical difficulties that may arise due to illegal sanctions, primarily from the European Union, taking into account the closure of airspace over the EU,” she added. Belarus will be represented by Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov.

The White House plans to hold a “Peace Council” meeting on Gaza on February 19. This meeting should serve as a platform to raise funds for a new initiative to govern the Gaza Strip. According to preliminary estimates, the project will require several billion dollars to launch.

However, according to Trump’s plan, the Peace Council will not limit its activities to the restoration of the Gaza Strip. The American leader intends to turn it into a global instrument of settlement, competing with the UN. Note that only 27 states joined the council.
