The mayor of Banja Luka whined about Krajina, and now he said: ‘I respect Croatian laws..’

Stanivukovć stated in a letter to Consul General Zoran Piličić that on February 7 and 10če he was subjected to, as he claims, disproportionate controls. He states that at that time he was searched in detail, including a search of the person, vehicle and luggage.

He emphasized that he did not receive a clear justification of the legal basis for such measures and that, in his opinion, they exceeded the scope of usual border control. When he entered Croatia on February 7, he was fined 700 euros, which he says he paid. He claims that he thus complied with the regulations of the Republic of Croatia.

Unatoč therefore, he says that the detailed controls continued three days later, on February 10, because of which he suspects a selective approach or discrimination.

Stanivukovć believes that everything is connected with his speech at the Svetosava Academy in Graz in January. In the letter, he states that he spoke about historical suffering and complex social circumstances ‘exclusively from the aspect of human tragedy and the need to draw lessons from the past that lead to peace, stability and mutual respect’.

In a speech in Graac, held as part of the Svetosava Academy, he mentioned the Republic of Serbian Krajina, a parastate that existed on the territory of Croatia from 1991 to 1995, which caused reactions from part of the Croatian public.

– I respect the laws of the Republic of Croatia and have no intentions that would be contrary to the legal order or security of the country. I believe that you also do not want to send a message that we are not welcome on the territory of the Republic of Croatia – said Stanivukovi.

He also announced on his Facebook profile that he was punished for the speech he gave in Lika and Dalmatia, and that he accepts the punishment because he respects the laws of another country. He added that after that speech, as he claims, Croatian border police stop and search him every time he enters and leaves the country.

He also claims that his friends and colleagues who stayed with him in those areas have been identified. – And not only according to me, but they identified all my friends and associates who were together with me in those parts in the last year. We understand if it happens once, even a second time, but to do it every time both when entering and when leaving, that’s moreć message. The question is what kind – he said.

Stanivukovć He says that he wants to build good neighborly relations and announces that he will ask the Consulate, the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the competent institutions for an official statement on the treatment of him and his associates.

– I expect respect for the law, dignity and equal treatment for all citizens, exactly the way we treat everyone, without exception – he said.
