The United States transferred control of a military base located in Syrian Kurdistan to the Syrian authorities

According to official Syrian representatives, we are talking about the implementation of a policy to establish the authority of the central government over territories that were outside government control throughout the civil war.

The province of al-Hasakeh is populated primarily by Kurds, who, with US support, created autonomy in northeast Syria and played a key role in the defeat of the Islamic State terrorist group.

However, in recent weeks, Syrian government forces have established control over Kurdish territories. US Presidential Special Representative Tom Barrack said that after the formation of a friendly government in Syria, the American alliance with the Kurds lost its main goal – the fight against IS.

Last week, American troops left the At-Tanf air base, located in southern Syria, near the border with Jordan and Iraq.
