Rubio: US does not dispute Navalny poisoning report

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is visiting Slovakia, said the report that Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny was poisoned in prison was of significant concern.

“We are aware of this report. We are aware of the Navalny case. And we have no reason to dispute the report,” he said. Answering the question why the United States did not join it, Rubio replied that this was not an initiative of the United States, but of five European countries, and again emphasized that this is not evidence of American disagreement.

On February 14, the UK, Sweden, France, Germany and the Netherlands published a joint report according to which Navalny died from epibatidine poisoning, a poison extracted from the skin of the South American dart frog. The substance was found in samples of the politician’s biomaterials, which his family was able to take abroad.

The Russian Embassy in London called this statement political propaganda: “There is no reason to trust such “findings” of Western “experts.” The truly shocking method that Western politicians have now chosen is necropropaganda. This is not a search for justice, but mockery of the deceased.”
