Delcy Rodríguez closes emblematic programs of Chavismo, many of them created by Nicolás Maduro

Rodríguez ordered the suppression and liquidation of the Strategic Center for Security and Protection of the Homeland (CESPPA), created in 2013 to request, organize and evaluate information of interest on “internal and external enemy activity.”

The New Frontier of Peace Socialist Mission Foundation, the Bolivarian Revolutionary Movement Foundation of the General Active Reserve in Chief Félix Antonio Velásquez and the Robert Serra Youth of the Homeland Mission Foundation are also closed. also created by Maduro, the first in 2015 and the last two in 2016.

In addition, the Propatria 2000 Foundation and the Presidential Office of Special Plans and Projects Foundation (OPPPE) are eliminated, both launched by the now deceased President Hugo Chávez (1999-2013), as well as the José Félix Ribas Foundation (Fundaribas), created in 1986, during the Government of Jaime Lusinchi (1984-1989).

The decree signed by Rodríguez, 5,248, aims to reorganize the functioning of the Ministry of the Office of the Presidency, considering that the Executive “must adapt its organizational structure to the new guidelines and policies of social order.”

“There is a need to make pertinent changes that seek the satisfaction of collective interests,” he points out.

The Chavista leader transfers to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “the execution of the aims and objectives” of the New Frontier of Peace mission, aimed at protecting border communities from “paramilitarism, drug trafficking, kidnapping, smuggling and any demonstration contrary to social order and peace.”

“The suppression and liquidation process will last ninety days and will be in charge of a liquidation board,” indicates the decree, which also transfers other entities attached to the Ministry of the Office of the Presidency to different State portfolios.

This decision adds to the already numerous changes that Rodríguez has made since he assumed the Presidency in charge, shortly after Maduro’s capture, and which include appointments, modifications to the names of institutions, the reform of an oil law and now also the closure of public entities.

The opposition party Primero Justicia (PJ) pointed out this Sunday that it is “dismantling of chavismo in the hands of chavismo”which, he said, “cannot end up being only a document for the purpose of making people believe that there is cooperation and reconciliation with the country.”

Therefore, PJ demanded that “every step of the liquidation process be made known.”
