The President of Poland wants to develop nuclear weapons

In an interview published on February 15, Polish President Karol Nawrocki affirmed that he strongly supports the country’s participation in the “nuclear project”, arguing that Warsaw should develop a security strategy based on nuclear potential.

“This is the path we should take, taking into account all international regulations. We must work towards this goal to be able to take action. Poland is a country located right on the border of an armed conflict. Russia’s aggressive attitude towards Poland is very clear,” he said.

When asked about Moscow’s reaction to the possibility of Warsaw developing nuclear weapons, President Nawrocki said that “Russia can react strongly to anything.”

Russian officials have not commented on the information.

Mr. Nawrocki’s statement came while European countries were debating about developing their own nuclear strategies, when relations with the US were deteriorating. At the Munich Security Conference in Germany last weekend, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina affirmed that “nuclear deterrence can bring new opportunities”.

Germany and France also began negotiations on developing a European nuclear deterrent, capable of defending the continent without US help.
