Mr. Obama corrected his claim that ‘aliens are real’

“I tried to answer quickly in the spirit of the column, but because this is causing a stir, I would like to correct it. Statistically, the universe is so vast that there is a high possibility of extraterrestrial life,” former US President Barack Obama posted on Instagram on February 15.

The article refers to the controversy related to the statement he made about aliens in a previously broadcast podcast.

“However, the distance between star systems is too great, so the probability of aliens ever visiting us is very low. During my presidency, I have not seen any evidence that aliens have ever contacted us. Really!”, he wrote.

During a conversation with podcast host Brian Tyler Cohen last weekend, Mr. Obama seemed to confirm the existence of aliens when participating in a quick Q&A session, where guests had to give concise answers to bombarded questions.

When asked “are aliens real?”, the former US president replied that “they are real, but I have not seen them”.

“They are not being held at Area 51. There are no underground facilities, unless there is some giant conspiracy and they keep it hidden from the US president,” he continued.

Area 51 is a top secret US Air Force base in Nevada. This facility has long been believed by conspiracy theorists to be where the government is hiding alien bodies and spaceships.

This comment was published by many news agencies around the world with headlines such as “former president Barack Obama confirms aliens are real” or “‘They are real’: Mr. Obama’s shocking statements about aliens”. Magazine Time also reported on the incident with the headline: “Mr. Obama says aliens are real, but they are not in Area 51.”

Interest in the possibility of contact between aliens and Earth has skyrocketed in recent years, after US government documents revealed a number of sightings of mysterious flying objects.

Leaked video recorded by a US Air Force drone more than 13 years ago shows that Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), the US government’s new term for Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs), have appeared in the Middle East.

The Pentagon a few years ago also released three videos recorded by the US Navy, showing strange objects rushing in the sky to the amazement of soldiers, in which a UAP even rotated against the wind.
