From 366 board games and puzzles to 32 work cases in ‘Everything in order’: “Overwhelmed by the quantity”

All that renovation and moving in your own home caused chaos anyway, but add 1001 interests, the typical disorder of three teenage children and an aversion to tidying up, and the problem became insurmountable. “Every corner of every room is full,” said clean-up coach Nele in disbelief. “Every cupboard is overflowing. I am really overwhelmed by the amount.”

That was not an exaggeration. The format wants Danira and co to display all the stuff in a warehouse to keep it thoroughly clean. But even a 3,000 m² warehouse turned out to be too small to display all the items from the terraced house.

Thousands of items

This included 366 board games and puzzles, 2,531 comics, 734 books, 410 DVDs and 543 CDs. Do-it-yourselfer Tim had 2,738 items in terms of work equipment. This involved 14 saws, 16 grinding wheels, 20 drills, 11 chisels and 32 work cases.

“Normally we ask to get rid of fifty percent of the items. But in this case that will not be enough,” said Danira. “It will have to be more. Because your stuff won’t get into the warehouse. It really involves getting rid of a lot and being strict.”

Giving up the things turned out to be difficult. It was also slow at the original pace, but surprisingly little was left in the end. “More than half is gone, we created twice as much space,” Danira formulated the result.
