Geldorf insults Trump
The Cinema for Peace initiative, founded in 2002, honors films and people who promote peace and social and ecological goals every year. The gala at Berlin’s Hotel Adlon was hosted by, among others, the musician and philanthropist Bob Geldorf. He sharply criticized US President Donald Trump for calling climate change a hoax. “He’s a damn idiot and he should keep his mouth shut,” Geldorf said of Trump.
Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who has been associated with the foundation for years, and US actor Kevin Spacey, among many others, were in the audience.

Former South African constitutional judge Albie Sachs for his fight against apartheid and a Ukrainian boy from the documentary “Children in Fire” also received awards. Roman, seriously injured in the war and still scarred to this day, touched the audience with a short speech in which he said: “Today I am here to show you what the war is doing to children. I speak as the voice of the Ukrainian children. Children want to dream, children want to go to school, children want to be happy, but the war has destroyed everything.”
