The first day of negotiations between Russia, Ukraine and the United States. Zelensky: “Ukrainians will not agree to cede Donbass”

The first day of trilateral Russian-American-Ukrainian negotiations ended in Geneva. As stated in the office of Vladimir Zelensky, they were also attended by representatives of four European countries allied to Ukraine: Germany, France, Great Britain and Italy.

“After the joint part, we continued to work in groups in different areas. Discussions were focused on practical issues and the mechanics of possible solutions. Tomorrow morning, the political and military groups will continue to work,” said the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov.

Meanwhile, the President of Ukraine said in an interview with Axios that the Ukrainian people will not accept a unilateral withdrawal of troops from Donbass without the withdrawal of Russian troops, as well as the transfer of the region to Russia. He noted that, according to an agreement with the United States, this issue should be put to a referendum.

“Emotionally, people will never forgive this. Never. They will not forgive me, they will not forgive the United States. Ukrainians cannot understand why they are being asked to cede additional territories,” said Vladimir Zelensky, expressing confidence that a stop to hostilities along the current front line will be approved by the citizens of Ukraine.
