Araqchi after negotiations in Geneva: “We managed to reach agreement on defining principles”

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, who headed the delegation of the Islamic Republic at the negotiations with the United States in Geneva, made an optimistic statement following their results.

“In general, we were able to reach broad agreement on the defining principles on the basis of which we can move forward to work on the text of a possible agreement,” the minister said, noting that the current round of negotiations was more constructive than the previous one.

According to him, both sides should present their draft versions of the agreement and transfer them to each other. Then the time for the next round will be set.

US Vice President J.D. Vance’s comments were more restrained. “There has been some success, they agreed to continue negotiations. However, the president has defined a “red line” that Iran refuses to recognize. We will continue to work, but the president retains the right to say when diplomacy has exhausted itself,” he said.
