The EU condemned Ustasha greetings and slogans at Thompson’s concerts in Široki Brijeg

In the statement delivered to the media from the headquarters of the EU delegation in Sarajevo, Thompson’s name was not mentioned directly, but it is clear how they reacted to the scenes that appeared on the recordings posted on social networks.

“Photos and videos from the recent concert in Široki Brijeg show the participants chanting slogans and highlighting symbols associated with fascist ideologies. The glorification and relativization of fascist ideologies has no place in a democratic society and reminds us of the darkest periods of European history,” the announcement reads.

At the same time, the EU called on everyone to show respect for the victims of crimes committed during the Second World War, and “competent authorities to investigate the incidents in accordance with domestic legislation”, the statement reads.

Shouting the Ustasha slogan “Za dom spremni” and saluting with a raised right hand at Thompson’s concerts held on February 13 and 14 on Tuesday was also condemned by the OSCE and the United Nations mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

They also called on the authorities in BiH to conduct an investigation and sanction all those who behave in this way.

A similar request was made before them by Israel’s ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Galit Peleg.
