Gaza authorities raise the death toll from Israeli attacks to more than 610 since the beginning of the ceasefire

The authorities of the Gaza Strip, controlled by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), have this Thursday raised the death toll from Israeli attacks to more than 610 since October 10, 2025, the date on which the ceasefire agreed upon as part of the agreement to implement the United States proposal for the future of the Palestinian enclave came into force.

The Gaza Ministry of Health has indicated in a statement that in the last few hours two deaths have been confirmed, bringing the death toll to 611, with 1,630 injured and 726 bodies recovered in areas from which Israeli troops withdrew following the aforementioned agreement.

Thus, they have highlighted that to date 72,069 deaths and 171,728 injuries have been confirmed since the beginning of the offensive after the attacks of October 7, 2023, although they have reiterated that “there are still victims under the rubble and lying in the streets in places that ambulances and Civil Protection teams have not been able to reach until now.”

For its part, the press office of the Gazan authorities has pointed out in a statement that since the partial reopening of the Rafah crossing, on the border with Egypt, a total of 640 people have left Gaza, with 534 returning, below the 3,400 who should have left or entered in this period. “This represents a compliance rate of 33%,” he criticized.

The reopening is part of the application of the October agreement to implement the United States proposal, which to date has included the handover of all Israeli hostages – dead and alive – and a limited release of Palestinian prisoners, while the Gazan authorities are now expected to hand over control of the enclave to a group of Palestinian technocrats, who will have to coordinate with the Peace Board headed by US President Donald Trump, for the next stage.

The Rafah crossing is the only crossing in Gaza that does not lead to Israeli territory and is considered a key point for the entry of supplies to the Palestinian population, mired in a serious humanitarian crisis due to Israel’s offensive, which has imposed harsh restrictions on the delivery of humanitarian aid following its large-scale attack against the Strip.
