Tourist suspends baby 80 meters above famous Brazilian waterfall to take photo

Risky behavior. A tourist who visited the Iguazu National Park this Tuesday, between Brazil and Argentina, was seen hanging a baby above the void, several tens of meters high, reports the Brazilian newspaper Globo and other South American media.

The scene, filmed this Tuesday afternoon, shocked social networks, according to Globo. The footage shows the man hanging the baby over a footbridge and barrier protecting tourists in the heart of the “Devil’s Throat”, the largest waterfall in Iguazu Falls, which is 80 meters high – the equivalent of a 27-story building.

The identity of the man, as well as that of the woman accompanying him and taking his photo, have not been revealed.

Risky situations

But the scene caused a reaction from the park’s Argentine concessionaire, Iguazú Argentina SA, which, in a press release cited by Globo, recalled that barriers were in place to prevent risky situations.

In January, according to Globo, a man had already jumped over the security barriers at the Devil’s Throat viewpoint in order to recover his hat.

Iguazu park managers stressed that such actions endanger the tourists who committed these acts, as well as other tourists present in the area.

A regulation also governs visits to the park, and imposes sanctions for tourists who do not respect the rules of conduct of the place. Visitors who violate the rules may be banned from the site.

Iguazu National Park, a Unesco site located on the Argentinian-Brazilian border, is famous for its falls and its subtropical forest which is full of rich biodiversity. By 2025, it had attracted 1.5 million visitors.
