Intruder shot dead at Donald Trump’s Florida estate

Trump, who often flies to his private club in Palm Beach on weekends, was not there or in the southern state of Florida at the time. The president hosted a dinner with governors in Washington on Saturday evening.

Investigators initially said nothing about the background to the incident or the man’s possible motive. The Federal Police FBI is leading the investigation.

Shotgun and gas can

Regarding identity, the local sheriff said at a press conference only that the intruder was white. According to the Secret Service, he was observed at the north gate of Mar-a-Lago and was said to be carrying a shotgun and a fuel canister.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw said two Secret Service agents and a sheriff’s office representative asked the man to put down the canister and gun. He then brought the shotgun into a firing position. The officers then opened fire. The man died at the scene. It was still unclear how many shots were fired.

The man’s name was not initially released because family members should be notified first. The FBI called on people in the area to check outdoor cameras for anything suspicious.

Along with the White House, Mar-a-Lago is a key property for President Trump. He often stays there on weekends and holidays. He often receives high-ranking state guests in the magnificent property.

Several attempted attacks during the election campaign

Trump has been the target of assassination attempts on several occasions. In the summer of 2024, the then presidential candidate narrowly escaped with his life when an assassin shot him at a campaign event in Butler, Pennsylvania, one bullet slightly injured his ear. One visitor died and two others were injured. The perpetrator was killed by security forces. The scene of the bloodied Trump raising his fist after the attack went down in history.

In September 2024, the Secret Service shot an armed man who was hiding in the bushes at Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach and was said to have been planning an attack. The man himself did not fire a bullet – instead he fled, but was arrested a short time later. He was recently sentenced to life imprisonment.
