His attempt to break into the security area, which is considered one of the most secure places in the United States when the president is in residence, prompted a swift and decisive security response. Secret Service agents in charge of the inner ring of security, along with one Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy providing support on the outer perimeter, immediately confronted the attack. After a short confrontation, members of the security forces opened fire.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released, died at the scene from his injuries. The press release specifically emphasized that none of the agents of the Secret Service or the personnel from the sheriff’s office were injured during the intervention. At the time of the incident, there were no persons under the protection of the Secret Service on the property, which was confirmed by the agency itself. The area around Mar-a-Lago was immediately closed, and traffic in the surrounding streets was temporarily interrupted while the multi-hour examination by specialized forensic teams took place.

At the time of the incident, American Trump and first lady Melania were safe, thousands of kilometers away in their official residence in Washington. Although the president often spends weekends at his Florida estate, which during his tenure was nicknamed the “winter White House” due to his frequent visits, he was not present this time.
