Protests in Iran continue – Ish Basij was lynched at Tehran University

At the National University (Shaheed Bahshti) in Iran, a protest was also reported on the networks. There, students from the faculties of pharmacy, nursing and midwifery held a protest that was defined as a silent sit-in protest. This, in parallel with the strengthening of security around the faculty from the morning hours and attempts to prevent their arrival at the faculty. It was reported that since this morning, the Iranian security forces prevented many students, especially those from the faculties of medicine and dentistry, from entering the faculty’s premises. It was said that a call for a protest presence at the Faculty of Pharmacy had been circulated since yesterday, and for this reason, only people with a “direct educational connection to this Faculty” were allowed to enter.

It was reported that during this gathering, initially a limited amount of Basij forces were present, but their number gradually increased. According to witnesses, Basij forces were sent to the scene through calls and summonses from other faculties. It was also reported that Basij forces tried to change the atmosphere of the gathering by chanting slogans. In response, the protesting students responded with protest slogans, and the demonstration continued for several minutes in a tense atmosphere. Nevertheless, it was noted that the protest took place overall without physical confrontations and in a peaceful manner.

In the networks, documents were circulated about their behavior at the University of Arts in Tehran, the names of the murdered demonstrators were read and the flags of the protestors were raised. Iran International reported that slogans were chanted there, including “Death to the dictator” and “Political prisoners must be released.”

Iran International reported that a group of female students at a girls’ school in Shiraz joined a growing wave of female students across Iran who sang a patriotic anthem: “Motherland, you are my being”. It was noted that similar protests were reported in schools in many cities in recent days.
