Recall from Rewe: Vegetarian spring rolls filled with meat

Köln – Be careful, risk of allergies! Rewe calls back “yes! Spring rolls with fine vegetables”. Because the Asian rolls contain what isn’t written on them: Instead of vegetables, some spring rolls were filled with chicken – including an undeclared mustard allergen. Vegetarians are unlikely to be impressed by this either.

That’s why the Dutch manufacturer Albert van Zoonen BV has one recall started. Rewe warns on its Homepage: People with mustard allergy should definitely not eat the product! A health risk cannot be ruled out.

Branches in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland are affected. Customers can also return the goods to any Rewe branch without a receipt. There you will get your money back!

Experts warn: A mustardAllergies Although rare, it can be severe – from itching and shortness of breath to life-threatening anaphylactic shock. By the way, heat does not make the allergen harmless!

Vegetarians also affected

Excitement about the frozen product from the Rewe own brand “ja!” should also apply to vegetarians. The “spring rolls with fine vegetables” are explicitly declared to be vegetarian. The fact that the chicken is included as a surprise will probably not please anyone who consciously follows a meat-free diet.

These Asian dough rolls are not suitable for vegans: the only animal product contained in the list of ingredients is whole egg from barn-raised eggs.
