Yesterday, Wednesday, Syria confirmed that there had been cases of mass flight from Al-Hawl camp, shortly after the withdrawal of the Kurdish forces that were administering it, while Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani discussed with the American envoy to Syria, Thomas Barrack, the necessary logistical and political arrangements to reactivate the American embassy in Damascus. The Syrian Ministry of Interior acknowledged that there had been cases of mass escape from Al-Hawl camp, which was housing the families of members suspected of belonging to ISIS, including foreigners, shortly after the withdrawal of the Kurdish forces that were managing it. Ministry spokesman Nour al-Din al-Baba said during a press conference that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) withdrew from the camp “suddenly and unexpectedly.”
