Melania Trump will chair a meeting of the United Nations Security Council on March 2

The first lady of the United States, Donald Trump, will chair a meeting of the United Nations Security Council once the North American country assumes the rotating presidency of the organization on March 2, making her the first to do so.

The White House has stated that “first lady Melania Trump is about to make history at the United Nations once the United States assumes the presidency of the Security Council, emphasizing the role of education in fostering tolerance and world peace.”

“Mrs. Trump’s leadership will mark the first time that a sitting first lady of the United States presides over the (UN) Security Council as members weigh issues of education, technology, peace and security,” he said in a statement.

Thus, he stressed that the meeting, titled ‘Children, Technology and Education during a conflict’, will take place on March 2 at 3:00 p.m. (local time), before pointing out that the representative of the United States to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, as well as other members of the UN Security Council, will participate.

The decision has been communicated by the White House to the services of the UN Security Council, according to United Nations sources, who have indicated that the message transmitted contemplates that Melania Trump “will call for peace through education.”
