Barrak’s visit to Damascus: opening of an embassy in the United States and the elimination of chemical weapons in Syria are discussed

Other issues on the agenda of the negotiations are the creation of an international committee that will ensure transparency in the process of eliminating Syrian chemical weapons, the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces into the state and military structures of the central government, and American investment in the Syrian economy.

Let’s remember: a month ago, Barrak said that after the formation of a friendly government in Syria, the American alliance with the Kurds lost its main goal – confronting the terrorist group “Islamic State”.

“The initial task of the Union of Democratic Forces was to fight the Islamic State. This task has lost its significance. Damascus is ready to take responsibility in the security sphere and is capable of doing this. This also applies to control over the camps and prisons where representatives of the Islamic State are kept,” he said.
