The only force capable of uniting the opposition is Samvel Karapetyan. Levon Ter-Petrosyan

The leader of “Strong Armenia” Samvel Karapetyan is the only force capable of uniting the divided opposition, stated the first president, ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan.

Assessing the situation in the opposition field, the leader of the Congress said that the months-long negotiations between the opposition parties did not lead to any agreement.

“Ultimately, it is necessary to understand that unification of the opposition is not a political issue, but simply a matter of saving the nation. Being a self-sufficient and accomplished person, Karapetyan is able to solve this problem,” the first president stressed.

ANC has also announced its participation in the National Assembly elections to be held on June 7. The party’s prime minister candidate is Levon Zurabyan.

The Armenian National Congress announced earlier that the opposition field should unite around the force led by Samvel Karapetyan. According to Levon Zurabyan, they are the leaders of the opposition field.

Billionaire businessman Karapetyan is the candidate for the Prime Minister of “Strong Armenia”. However, the pre-election list of the party will be headed by his nephew, Narek Karapetyan, who will be the coordinator of the transition period, the guarantor, so that the National Assembly implements the constitutional amendment.

Samvel Karapetyan cannot be a candidate for either the Prime Minister or the Deputy, because the businessman is not only Armenian, but also a citizen of Russia and Cyprus.

After Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that as a result of the parliamentary elections, “all former authorities and oligarchs will be permanently and irreversibly thrown out of the political arena”, his party members began to target Samvel Karapetyan, presenting him as a “Russian oligarch” and PAP leader Gagik Tsarukyan, describing the latter as a “local oligarch”. Tsarukyan will take part in the elections with the “Offer to Armenia” initiative.

The force led by the second president, Robert Kocharian, has announced its participation, but has not yet revealed who will be the prime minister’s candidate. The Republican party of the third president has not yet decided to participate.
