Trump says Iran “wants to talk,” but it’s “too late”

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, assured this Tuesday that the Iranian authorities “want to talk” once the country’s leadership “has disappeared”, but he has already told them that it is “too late.”

“Their air defenses, their Air Force, Navy, and their leaders have disappeared. They want to talk. I told them, ‘too late!'” Trump wrote on his social network, echoing a laudatory opinion column in ‘The Washington Post’.

It states that Trump “is ending” a war that began 47 years ago when Iran took the United States Embassy in Tehran in 1979, going through other episodes such as the attacks in the region against American citizens and facilities, including the Hamas attacks on October 7, 2023.

“Trump is taking decisive measures to end this regime of terror,” says the text, which predicts “the possibility of lasting peace in the Middle East” thanks to this “way of changing the world” without deploying US troops on the ground.

The day before, Trump stated that the attacks launched by the United States in recent days — which have so far left nearly 800 dead, including several high-ranking officials in Iran, including its supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei — were nothing compared to those that were yet to come. A “big wave,” he said, that can last more than four or five weeks.

“What we are doing right now is eliminating the intolerable threats posed by this sick and sinister regime,” said Trump, who in statements to the press did not rule out the possibility of deploying troops on the ground if necessary.
