New this year is that thanks to the LED screen, a children’s film can also be shown in the early evening, followed by an evening film for a wider audience. The residents choose a date between mid-August and mid-September and select a title from a pre-compiled catalog by mutual agreement.
The organization does require commitment from the neighborhood. Each candidate street appoints a street manager as the point of contact for the district. In addition, it must appear that a majority of residents support the initiative. The neighborhood is also responsible for local promotion, with the support of flyers that the district makes available. For practical implementation, it is requested that one resident can provide electricity and sanitary facilities for the employees.
The selection is not made solely on the basis of order of registration. Practical feasibility also plays a role, such as the possibility of temporarily closing the street and guaranteeing emergency access for emergency services. Finally, a balanced geographical distribution within the district is taken into account.
Whether a street is actually renamed Film Street depends on the applications submitted by May 1 through the district’s cultural antenna.
