Iranian General Staff: “Israel struck Azerbaijan”

The General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces denied statements by official Baku about Iranian shelling of the territory of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, as a result of which two people were injured.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran rejects allegations that our unmanned aerial vehicles attacked Azerbaijan. These were actions of the Zionist regime, the purpose of which was to damage relations between Muslim countries. They had precedents,” the statement said.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, two drones were launched across the country, one hit the terminal building of the Nakhchivan International Airport, the second exploded next to a school in the village of Shakarabad. Two people were injured and property damage was caused.

The Azerbaijani authorities demanded clarification from Iran, calling on them to refrain from repeated attacks. Azerbaijan reserves the right to respond. Iranian Ambassador Mojtaba Dermichilu has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he will be presented with a note of protest.
