Four suspected spies for Iran were arrested in London: they were spying on Jews

The London Police’s counter-terrorism unit said it had detained four men on suspicion of assisting Iranian intelligence. The investigation relates to alleged surveillance of objects and people associated with London’s Jewish community, The Guardian reports.

Four suspects – one Iranian national and three dual Iranian-British nationals – were arrested on Friday, with a 40-year-old and a 55-year-old man detained in the Barnet area, a 52-year-old man in Watford and a 22-year-old man in Harrow.

A police spokeswoman said the arrests were the result of a lengthy investigation. “We understand that the public may be concerned, particularly the Jewish community, and as always, I ask them to remain vigilant and if they see or hear anything that is concerning, please contact us,” she said.
