The government issues new treasury bills, here’s how much the profit is

From March 9, the Ministry of Finance opens the registration of a new issue of government treasury bills with a maturity of 91 days and a target nominal amount of 1.5 billion euros, with an annual rate of return of 2.5 percent and due on June 18 of this year, the Ministry of Finance reported on Friday. Registration through digital channels starts on Sunday at midnight. The offer period will have two rounds of registration, the first round of which is intended for citizens, and the second is intended directly for institutional investors.

In the first round of registration, interested citizens can register treasury bills through the network of Fina branches and through the digital platform of the Ministry of Finance for securities, by accessing the e-treasury web application or the m-treasury mobile application.

Possibility of reinvestment

By selecting the “reinvestment” option via digital subscription channels or when registering at Fine branch offices, it will be possible to settle the settlement of the new issue with available funds that mature on March 19 of this year, based on the December 2025 issue.

Therefore, the reinvestment of the available amount will be carried out automatically, that is, without the need to carry out payment transactions, but the possibility of reinvestment must be used during the period of registration of the new issue, that is, until March 16 at 11 am.

This means that citizens who want to reinvest money in treasury bills will not have to wait for the payment to their bank transaction account and re-payment, because by selecting the “reinvestment” option, it will be done automatically on March 19, 2026.

Citizens hold more than 8.5 percent of the public debt

In a little more than two years, this will be the 20th issue of government securities that citizens can buy, including the 17th series of treasury bills.

Citizens currently hold more than 8.5 percent of the public debt, and they have participated in more than 417,000 offers with a total value of 14.3 billion euros through the issues so far, says the Ministry of Finance, adding that more than 370 million euros of interest has been directed to citizens through the issues of “people’s” securities so far.
