Missing person case: Workers find light parts in fire brigade trousers in the Danube

Dillingen – Shocking moment for workers on the Danube. During survey work between Dillingen and Steinheim on Wednesday, they discovered the remains of a person – wearing fire trousers. Now the police are investigating: Are these parts of the body of a 22-year-old who has been missing for more than a year and a half?

The Augsburg and Kempten police headquarters are working on identifying the dead man. Forensic experts should now provide certainty: “The results of the DNA tests are still pending.”

Boat capsized in strong current

The tragedy occurred on June 2, 2024: During the floods, the rescuer had an accident in a boat near Offingen in the Günzburg district. The DLRG water rescue boat, which was manned by five emergency services, capsized in strong currents. Four helpers were able to escape to shore – the 22-year-old remained missing. The young man’s family and up to 120 volunteers searched the area around the Mindel River twice. They didn’t find Denis at the time.

The Floods in Bavaria claimed four lives – the missing person would be the fifth. The search in the waters has so far been unsuccessful. The police are planning further police searches on the river next week.
